Governmental Affairs

Chair: Joe McDonagh, Independent Insurance Agent

Mission Statement: The Governmental Affairs Committee of the Hamden Regional Chamber of Commerce is committed to reviewing, developing, and supporting issues that promote a positive, pro-active, and responsible business environment.

Our purpose is to work with our elected officials to promote a legislative agenda that will positively affect the ability of businesses to compete in the local and state economy and continue to generate income and jobs that will help to improve quality of life in the Town of Hamden.

To achieve the goals of this committee, its chair and its members will strive to maintain regular communication with Hamden’s General Assembly and Town delegations and recommend positions on issues that impact the local business community through personal contact and Chamber functions. Issues important to the committee include but are not limited to taxes, infrastructure, and zoning.

Health & Wellness Council

Chair: Kim Vertrees, Assisted Living Services, Inc.

The HRCC Health & Wellness Committee focus is to participate in and organize activities and provide services for the Senior citizens and their caregivers of our area. Their mission is to provide resources to employers, employees, individuals and the community at large, and to educate professionals within the elder healthcare community.

Meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month
at Hamden Senior Center, 2901 Dixwell Avenue, Hamden at 9:00 AM

Recruitment, retention, and member satisfaction is the mission of the Membership committee. A great group to join to maximize your visibility and involvement. They meet the 4th Wednesday of each month, 1 pm at the Chamber office.

The Nonprofit Council is dedicated to supporting and enhancing the work of nonprofit members.

Women in Business

The Women In Business creates a culture of education and support. All are invited to their monthly lunch-and-learns, the fourth Thursday of the month at 11:45 AM. Events are often at Atria-Larson Place at 1450 Whitney Avenue in Hamden and Benchmark Senior Living at Hamden, 35 Hamden Hills Drive, but watch the newsletter for changes in venue. A $10 donation goes to a high school scholarship fund.
